Digiscoping with Vortex
Vortex is the brand we fit more of than any other: 33 models across binoculars and spotting scopes, from the Crossfire and Diamondback up through the Viper HD and the Razor HD and UHD. If you glass with Vortex, there is almost certainly a Mountain Mag eyepiece for it. It stays on the optic full-time and your phone attaches magnetically when you want a photo or video through the glass.

What to know about Vortex optics
Vortex updates its lines by generation, and the generation matters more than the zoom range. On the Razor HD spotters, every Gen 1 (11-33, 16-48 and 20-60) takes one eyepiece, and every Gen 2 (13-39, 22-48 and 27-60) takes another. The Diamondback and Crossfire HD spotters are the same story: one eyepiece covers the 16-48 and 20-60 of each. The older Diamondback spotters are split by their eyepiece size rather than by zoom, which is why the table lists them as Gen 1.1 and Gen 1.2. On the binocular side the Viper HD split is by year (2017 or older versus current) and the Diamondback HD is split by objective size. The Vortex Solo monocular shares its eyepiece with the Maven C.1 and C.3.

How the Mountain Mag works on Vortex optics
The system is two parts. The Mountain Mag eyepiece contours to the existing eyepiece on your optic and stays there — you glass through it as normal, and it does not have to come off. The Mountain Mag adapter goes on your phone (no special case needed) and snaps onto the eyepiece magnetically, self-centering your camera over the glass. Seat it until you feel the magnets lock and shoot. Pull the phone off when you are done; the eyepiece stays put.
You order the eyepiece by optic model (the table above) and the adapter by phone model (choose your phone here). The Mountain Mag camera app locks your phone to the right lens so it does not hunt between cameras mid-shot.

Does the Mountain Mag fit the Vortex Razor HD spotting scope?
Yes, every Razor HD spotter. Gen 1 (11-33, 16-48, 20-60) takes one Mountain Mag eyepiece and Gen 2 (13-39, 22-48, 27-60) takes another, so pick your generation in the table above.
How do I know if my Razor HD is Gen 1 or Gen 2?
The zoom range tells you. 11-33, 16-48 and 20-60 are Gen 1; 13-39, 22-48 and 27-60 are Gen 2.
Does it fit the Viper HD and Diamondback HD spotters?
Yes. The Viper HD spotters are listed by generation (Gen 1, Gen 2 and the 11-33). The Diamondback HD spotter uses one eyepiece for both the 16-48 and the 20-60; the older non-HD Diamondback is listed separately by eyepiece size.
Which eyepiece do I order for Vortex binoculars?

Can I leave the eyepiece on my Vortex all the time?
Yes. The Mountain Mag eyepiece is meant to stay on and you glass as normal. The phone adapter attaches magnetically only when you want to shoot.
My Vortex model isn't listed. Can you still fit it?
Often, yes. Check that the eyepiece end is straight and not tapered, measure its outside diameter with digital calipers to the nearest tenth of a millimeter, and send us the reading with your model. We will tell you which eyepiece to order or whether one is coming.
